Former Seminole State College baseball Coach Lloyd Simmons Honored...

Simmons Honored by NJCAA Region II

Former Seminole State College baseball Coach Lloyd Simmons was honored with a "Distinguished Service Award" at the NJCAA Region II Annual Meeting in Tulsa last Thursday, Sept. 13.  Among those present to celebrate the coach's recognition were several former Trojan players.  Pictured (left to right) are former MLB pitcher and SSC Regent Ryan Franklin, Simmons, former NJCAA World Series "Big Stick Award Winner" SSC Regent Curtis Morgan, current SSC Trojan Coach Mack Chambers and Assistant Baseball Coach James Martin.  Simmons retired from SSC in 2016. During his 30 years at the college, he led teams to the NJCAA national tournament 13 times. He was also recognized as the most winning coach in collegiate baseball history in the nation with a record of 1,495-271 in 1999. He ended his coaching career with more than 1,800 wins. Along the way, more than 200 of his players signed professional contracts, 43 with the MLB.
