SSC Belles Upset the Murray State Aggies
The January 14th, 2019 match between the Belles and Aggies found the Belles lagging behind 14-18 after the first quarter. The fierce 3-point shooting of sophomore Summer Jones allowed the Belles to remain in close proximity to Murray State 35-36 going into the half, even though three Belles were in foul trouble and the team plagued with turnovers.
However, the Belles would not be denied as leading lady Khalan Richardson (19 pts) made her presence felt, leading her team in scoring (19), rebounds (10), and steals (5). Her co-star Summer Jones added 18 points, as she shot 80% from the 3-point line (4-5). Tra'Chael Quarles, who played the entire game, was an important member of the cast, adding 12 points.
With outstanding shooting percentages and excellent free-throw shooting, the Belles were able to take over the lead in the 4th quarter, where they out scored the Aggies 29 to 15. The contest ended in a victory for the Belles 80-71.
