The Belles Return Fired Up!!!
Teams that have to face an away contest after returning from a long break often find themselves behind the eight ball. This analogy persisted for the Belles who trailed the Redland Cougars 12-15 after the first quarter. But the analogy was soon threatened as the contest continued. The Belles strong offense and consistent defense in the second quarter found them going into the locker room in the lead 32-23, after a 20-8 run. Summer Jones (19 pts), who was perfect from the 3 point line (3-3), led the way with much support from Khalan Richardson, who had a double-double (13 pts and 10 rebounds); as the lead was extended to 55-38 at the end of the third quarter. The Belles never looked back, outscoring the Cougars 19-4 in the 4th quarter to seize a victory with a final score of 74-42. Leading Scorers: Summer Jones (19 pts), Khalan Richardson 13 points, and Tra’Chael Quarles 10 pts. Leading Rebounders: Khalan Richardson 10, Tra’Chael Quarles 8 (+6 assists), and Jsades Ainsworth 6 (+ 4 steals).
