The Trojans Start the Season on Fire, Look to Continue Momentum Into Region Play

The Trojans played two more games over Labor Day weekend and came away with two more wins. Two opponents in District play were invited to Oklahoma City to play games on Saturday and Sunday. Both teams, Barton CC and Western Texas, were very good opponents and traditionally strong in their perspective regions.

The Trojans started off the weekend against Barton. In the first minute of the game, Barton scored the first goal given up by the Trojans defense all season. However; Seminole responded quickly with a corner kick played in by Breezie Davis that found Yudaya Nakayenze to tie the game one minute later. In the 5th minute of the game, Alexis Davis broke free from the defense to score the eventual game winner and put the Trojans on top 2-1. Yolanda Oke scored the third goal for the Trojans and her first goal of the season about 20 minutes later to put the Trojans up 3-1. Yudaya finished the scoring of the first half with a later goal for the Trojans to go ahead, 4-1. Barton would get a goal in the second half to bring the final score in favor of the Trojans, 4-2.

The ladies returned on Sunday afternoon to face a resilient Western Texas CC side. The game went back and forth for most of the afternoon. SSC outshot WTC 21-8, but had trouble scoring until midfielder Giselle Longoria placed a ball over the defense in the 65th minute. Yudaya ran onto the ball and beat the Western Goalkeeper to give the Trojans the lead and the win.

The Trojans start the season at 5-0 for the first time in program history and will begin NJCAA Region II play on Thursday against Redlands CC in El Reno at 3pm. The game will be played at El Reno HS football field. Redlands is also undefeated going into Region play.
