Seminole State Trojan Volleyball Ink Final 5

The 2020 roster will consist of 7 Sophomores and 10 incoming Freshmen. SSC had just 10 athletes on their 2019 roster. Coach Killian said “I am excited about the larger roster because it will increase competition in practice and ultimately bring out a higher level of play in games. All the ladies on the team are extremely talented and I can't wait to see them in action together! Miranda Roberts (Alvarado High School, TX), Miranda is a 5’10 Pin Hitter from Alvarado, TX. Miranda has been playing volleyball for 10 years. She has been involved with Club ball for 5 years. Miranda had an impressive high school career: 4 year Varsity player, 3 year Team Captain, 2x Team MVP, 2x Second Team All Distract & All County, 1x First Team All Distract & All County, 4x All Academic. Miranda also has an impressive stat line recording 64 Aces, 234 kills, 304 assists, 216 digs, and 27 blocks! A Fun Fact about Miranda is that she was a dual sport athlete! Not only did she play volleyball, she also threw discus during Track! Miranda Said “I chose SSC because the campus made me feel really comfortable and at home. I felt a strong connection with the coach and players.”

Mary George (Bishop McGuinness High School, OK), Mary is a 6’1 Pin Hitter from Oklahoma City, OK. Mary has been playing volleyball for 8 years. She has played indoor club for 4 years (Oklahoma Charge and RISE Volleyball) and 2 years of Beach (PEAK). Mary is two-sport varsity lettermen in volleyball and track! Mary said “I chose SSC because I think it will be a good transition into college and I’m excited to play volleyball for SSC!”

Natalie Waxenfelter (Choctaw High School, OK), Natalie is a 5’11 Middle Blocker from Choctaw, OK. Natalie has been playing volleyball for 8 years. She played Club ball while living in Florida (West Florida Wave VB Club and Pace Volleyball Club). Natalie played her Junior and Senior seasons of high school ball in Oklahoma. After her first year at Choctaw (as a Junior) Natalie was named newbie of the year. Going into her Senior year, Natalie was voted as a team captain. During her time at Choctaw she was named Choctaw Times Athlete of the Month and Player of the Week. She was also featured in VYPE OKC article called Choctaw Character Counts! Natalie said “I chose Seminole because I love the campus and the girls. It’s also close to my hometown. I’m super excited to be a Trojan!!”

Kaitlyn Matlock (Noble High School, OK), Kaitlyn is a 5’9 Setter from Noble, OK. Kaitlyn has been playing volleyball for 8 years. She has been involved with club ball for 6 years and has played for Premier, Elite, Oklahoma Charge, and RISE. Kaitlyn had a great high school career on the court and in the classroom! Her volleyball accomplishments include All Conference Honorable Mention as a Freshman, All Conference Alternate Team as a Sophomore, and All Conference Teams her Junior and Senior seasons! Kaitlyn was also a 4 year team captain. Her academic accomplishments include Honor Role, Honor Society, Valedictorian, and Outstanding Youth Award! Kaitlyn said “I chose SSC because during the tour was the first time I felt at home on any visit I had been on. Plus, everyone on campus including your peers wants you to be successful in everything. For example, each sport supports each sport so that we can gain the at home advantage!”

Emily Ridley (Tecumseh High School, OK), Emily is a 5’7 DS/Libero from Tecumseh, OK. Emily has been playing volleyball for 8 years. She has been involved in club volleyball for 7 years, while playing club for Oklahoma Peak in 2019 she had the opportunity to play at the USA Jr. Girls National Championship in Indianapolis, IN. While in high school Emily had racked up many accomplishments! Emily has been a 4 year Varsity starter, 3x Nominee for Shawnee NEWS-Star PREPS Volleyball Player of the Year, Tecumseh High School Rookie of the Year (2016-2017) and Utility Player of the Year (2017-2018), and ranked 4A No. 16 Varsity Team Member (2018-2019)! As a senior Emily had an impressive stat line recording 45 Aces, 130 Kills, 390 Digs, 46 Assists, and 10 Blocks. A Fun Fact about Emily is that she had the opportunity to travel internationally for volleyball, she was a Jr. Goodwill Volleyball Tour Ambassador in Italy! Emily said “Seminole State College Offers a quality education and a perfect starting place for me to pursue my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I have grown up there my whole life and the people are more like family. SSC is not a place for me, it's more like home.”
