The Seminole State Soccer Team started their preseason games and first regular season game in the last few weeks. The Trojans return 8 sophomores from last years National Tournament team, 1 NCAA transfers, and 15 new freshmen to the squad. On August 11th, the Trojans had a great opportunity to play scrimmage the University of Arkansas who is currently the #9 ranked NCAA Division 1 team nationally. Then Seminole State hosted Rogers State at home on August 18th.
On August 22nd, the Trojans traveled to Butler Community College in a top 12 matchup. This was the first day of competition for the NJCAA and was a good start to the regular season for the Trojans. 9 new players made their first start for Seminole in a game where the Trojans led the Grizzlies for 77 minutes of the contest. A corner by Yiselle Bernal was headed into the back of the net by Aaliyaiah Durden in the 12th minute of action. The Trojans would press for a second goal gaining 13 shots with 7 on goal throughout the contest, but were unable to find some breathing room. With 4 seconds left, Butler scored a game tying goal to leave the contest at a 1-1 Draw.
New Assistant Coach Caitlyn Bidart said about the game: "I was very pleased to see how our team played today and am very excited to see how we progress through this season. We have a very high ceiling with this group and their continued daily strive for excellence will make this year an exciting time for Seminole State Soccer!"
The Trojans are back in action tonight for their 3rd scrimmage of the season at Oklahoma Baptist University at 6pm.
