Seminole State Soccer Leads Region 2 After First Round of Play

The Trojan soccer team is in first place in region play after the first round of games. Seminole has started off the season with a record of 9-0-1 and current national ranking of #3 in the country. The ladies travelled to Rose State this last tuesday to begin the second round of region play. In a tough back and forth game, SSC was able to come home with a 2-0 win against the Raiders. The Trojans scored in the 67th minute after an own goal from Rose State. In the 82nd minute, Avery lang received a pass from Emma Fanous and turned to strike a goal and give the Trojans a 2-0 win. 

The Trojans are solely in first place of the region standings at the moment with Rose State maintaining a strong hold on the 2nd spot. Four other teams are very close in standings for the 3rd-5th spots. With the addition of LSUE into the region/district tournament, 5 teams from Region 2 will play in the post season tournament at the end of October. The Trojans have a big month ahead as they continue round 2 of Region 2 play as well as welcome Iowa Western, back to back national champions, to Seminole State on October 19th. 

Next game will be tomorrow at 4pm at home vs Rich Mountain.
