
Seminole State is in the hunt for the 1 seed for conference tournament in May. The Trojans battled over the weekend and came out with 2 wins out of 3 games over NEO. Scores were (13-1), (2-4), and (12-11). Game 3 went 11 innings as sophomore Tyler Payton hit the game winning homerun in the top of the 11th inning and freshmen Ethan Rich picked up his 2nd win of the season closing the doors in a 3 up 3 down fashion in the bottom of the 11th.
Also over the weekend, sophomore pitcher Declan Dahl (Lousiana Tech), pitched 7 innings with 0 walks, 7 strikeouts and allowed only 2 hits and 1 run. Sophomore hitters Hunter Dearman and Wilfred Gonzalez (Florida Gulf Coast) had some quality at-bats that helped the Trojans accumulate runs. Dearman generated 7 hits, 2 doubles, 2 homeruns (1 being grand slam), and 8 rbi's. Gonzalez, 7 hits, 1 homerun, 5 rbi's and 2 doubles.
This weekend wins puts the Trojans in position to race for the 1 seed. Seminole is at its last conference series this week starting Thursday at Connors State. It will be the final conference play games of the year. A sweep will have the Trojans in a solid position for 1 seed as the tournament takes place the 2nd Weekend of May.
Seminole State will be hosting the tournament again and has won the last two conference tournaments to go on to the super regionals.
