Coach Simmons built a dynasty in collegiate baseball over his 26 years at Seminole from 1976 to 2001. During his tenure at Seminole, he established a record of 1,643 wins and 312 losses, making him one of the winningest coaches in the history of college baseball. His teams made 13 trips to the NJCAA JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, where they returned home as runners-up four times. During that same period, his teams captured 16 Region II and 21 Bi-State Conference championships and were consistently ranked in the top 15 in the nation. Along the way, Simmons produced 41 NJCAA All-Americans and 165 of his former players signed professional baseball contracts.

Coach Simmons brings with him a wealth of experience and the respect of the world of collegiate baseball and beyond.  His ability to inspire championship-level mental toughness and his connections at every level of baseball will be a tremendous asset for players wanting to go on to play at four-year schools and as professionals. He will undoubtedly be a positive influence on the lives of the outstanding young men in the Trojan baseball program.

In spring of 2011, Simmons visited SSC to accept the "Distinguished Service Award" presented for his long-time service to the institution and the positive impact he has had on the lives of students.
